Worthy of 5 stars had Diop not been difficult to follow at times. If you’re up for the challenge–and hopefully you will be because it’s SO worth the effort–this proves an astounding scholarly work deserving of mass attention. A must read for those interested in African culture and history and still strikes a chord after all these decades. Western scholars were faced with a dilemma when no examples of totemism could be found among whites.
Diop books was used in a class in America. The water got hot, so somebody jumped out.

This highly technical and scholarly book is fast becoming a classic in the study of ancient African history. The historical evidence and analysis convincingly afrivan that ancient Egypt has black origins. He should be considered as one of the greatest scientists after Darwin, as he demonstrated that Africa was the cradle of humanity; that everything wfrican in Africa, and that Egypt and modern day Africans descended from the same ancestors, in other words, were the same people.
If you’re going to read this text, I’d highly recommend a dictionary and encyclopedic source remain handy, otherwise this could become a frustrating read rather quickly. We only need to use our common sense and ask questions instead of accepting sponfed information that has never made sense… Like Like.
