While I really enjoyed this book, I do have some criticisms of the second edition [note: There is quite a bit in here to daviv. I received this book from Summit Ministries in exchange for my honest review.

The first edition published in was terrific, but this edition was updated to include undwrstanding additional major worldviews Islam, Cosmic Humanism, and Postmodernism. Every so often a book comes along and truly rewrites the paradigms of a field. Each section includes an introduction to and history of the subject at hand, followed by consideration of what Secularism, Marxism, Postmodernism, New Spirituality, Islam, and Understandijg have to say about said topic.

Even if your conclusions are the same as Noebel’s, it is better to come to them on your own, rather than through secondhand commentary on I mainly agree with this book and think there is daviid of good information in it I did read the whole thing. The biggest let-down for me was that there was no section on education.

This is an excellent introduction to the prominent worldviews of today. Overall, UTT offers a foundational perspective for Christians trying noebl make sense of this world and provides compelling evidence for why the Christian worldview offers the most accurate view of True Reality. Besides the Bible, this has to be the most influential book I have ever read. This book might be a good starting place for Christians who are interested in philosophy and “worldviews,” but it is hardly the end-all-and-be-all of what there is to know on such subjects; though it’s size might suggest otherwise.

Understanding the Times Series

This work would make an especially valuable read for high schoolers and college students who are or will shortly be regularly interacting with other visions of the world. However, it is somewhat long and dry, and I think that is just too much effort for the “prize” of David Noebel’s opinions.

To be able to read all the worldviews on one topic before moving on. I wonder if such a thing is possible from any author?

The fundamental premise of UTT is that ideas have consequences, and that understanding important worldview [1] ideas helps make sense of and make a difference in the world.

How undeestanding we determine which views and ideas are biblical and which aren’t?

I really should re-read it at some point.
